J.L. Smith Trucking is committed to implementing new technologies to reduce fuel consumption.
We have installed auxiliary power units (APUs) in many of our trucks to reduce truck idle time. Trucks without APUs utilize the innovations of IdleAire Technologies. This allows drivers to completely turn off their trucks while connecting to a module that provides electricity, heat, air conditioning and many other features.

Since expanding in 2007, we have transformed into a green company. We became an EPA SmartWay Transport partner in 2008, signifying our commitment to preserving the environment, including idle reduction, improved aerodynamics, driver training and weight reduction. We have the highest possible Shipper Index Factor (SIF) score rating.
Reducing our environmental footprint is a top priority. We avoid using non-renewable resources and strictly adhere to environmentally friendly and biodegradable cleaning products.
We have implemented a company-wide recycling program, recycling all metal parts, oil, oil filters, coolant, coolant filters and diesel filters. Our program also extends to printer cartridges, paper, plastic and glass products.
